News & Notes U.S. Attorney Down Memory Lane Past AGazines

News and Notes

Larry Liss, Stu White, and Dave Campbell visited with AGLOA Founder, Jim Davis, in Pittsburgh, this past week. Jim is recovering from a serious illness and surgery but was in great spirits. His old friends provided heart-felt laughs as they recalled the fun-filled days of “The Throne Zone” at Rock Eagle; giggled about that legendary AG team, “The Wabash Cannonballs;” remembered some of the marvelous coaches and players from five decades and relived great achievements. There were waves of hilarity and a few tears.

Jim and Sandy Davis want to thank the AGLOA community for all the special messages that have been sent. Get Well Soon, Jimmy!

Four ninth-grade students and two adults from the Charter High School for Architecture and Design will represent Philadelphia at the 2014 AGLOA National Tournament. The four players, students in Dwayne Fontenette’s Algebra 1 class, are the first participants from Philadelphia in national tournament history. The “Philly Gang” will compete in On-Sets, Equations, and Propaganda. They’ll observe the other games to determine which additional game(s) the students would like to play going forward. Dwayne, winner of an Outstanding Senior Award at the 2009 National Tournament, is in his first year with Teach for America after graduating from Loyola University in New Orleans last May.
