Rules Changes for 2014-15

Equations

  • When both sideways and upside-down are in effect for a shake, allow a cube to be used in the Solution (but not the Goal) both sideways and upside-down.
  • The odd set of variations listed in the 2013-14 Equations Tournament Rules will be in effect for 2014-15.

  • NEW: LT 10 FUNCTION DEMAND
    Under Verb replace predicate with main verb.
  • The definition of a MAIN VERB which has been updated in the 2014 Judges Manual is as follows:
    MAIN VERB – This is the verb in a clause that identifies the action or state of being of the subject of the clause.
    Note: if an infinitive clause is written, the verb is considered an infinitive not a main verb. Ex.
    We wanted the boys to play fairly. In that sentence to play is an infinitive which takes a subject (boys) not a main verb.Examples:
    The boy cried.
    The girl is laughing.
    The lady became a doctor.
    When the bell rang the children left the classroom.
  • All Order of Play sheets have been updated. Look for the Revised in June 2014 date on the bottom to make sure you are using a correct form.

Propaganda

  • The sections for 2014-15 are B, C, D,and E.

Presidents

  • Under the rotation that is already in effect, Elementary/Middle Divisions play Presidents #25-44.
  • The theme for 2014-15 in all divisions is Slogans.
  • In Junior/Senior, a second theme is Domestic Affairs.
  • Also, Jr/Sr clues for #25-44 may involve U.S. Leaders Group 4: Cesar Chavez, John Foster Dulles, Sandra Day O’Connor, Martin Luther King Jr., Thurgood Marshall, George Marshall, Douglas MacArthur, and Henry Kissinger.
